Have you ever wondered how a book is born?
At Agafay Books, each one of our children’s books takes a magical journey before it reaches your bookshelf. It’s a mix of imagination, hard work, and a little bit of printing wizardry!
Come along; we’ll show you how it happens (and why the very last step is the trickiest of all).
Step 1: The Spark of an Idea
It all starts with a spark … a story idea!
Sometimes it comes from a memory, a dream, or even something funny a child once said. Our writers imagine the story in two languages right from the start — Arabic and English and/or Arabic and French — so it can speak to twice as many hearts.
Step 2: Bringing the Pictures to Life
Next, our illustrators start painting the world of the story.
Every page is like a little piece of art; colorful, detailed, and full of surprises for curious eyes. We check every smile, every flower, every tiny star in the night sky, because we know children love to spot every detail.
Step 3: The Magic of Two Languages
Here’s the tricky part: our books don’t just get “translated.” We make sure that both the Arabic and the English feel just right. The words have to sound natural, beautiful, and exciting in each language; and still fit perfectly on the page next to the pictures.
Step 4: Putting the Puzzle Together
Once the story and pictures are ready, it’s time for the layout.
Think of it like a puzzle; every word, sentence, and picture must be in just the right place. We have to balance two languages on the same page so that the reader’s eyes know exactly where to go next.
Step 5: The Final Challenge: Printing!
You might think that printing is the easy part… but it’s actually the most complicated!
Why? Because our books are:
- Bilingual: Two different scripts (Arabic and English or French) must be perfectly aligned.
- Colorful: We want every shade to look exactly like the illustrator painted it.
- Precise: Even the tiniest shift can move words or pictures out of place.
We go through proof after proof — checking colors, paper quality, and page alignment — until the book is perfect. It’s like baking a cake where every sprinkle needs to be in the right spot!
The Best Part
Finally, we hold the finished book in our hands. It’s fresh from the press, shining with colors, and ready to be opened by curious little readers. That’s the moment we know all the hard work was worth it.
At Agafay Books, we don’t just make books; we make beautiful bridges between languages and cultures, so every child can see themselves in a story.
