Meet Nathalie Bonfils

Christiane has lived in Casablanca for forty years, and it is where she feels at home. Her pen name, "Chrysultana", reflects her singular story with Morocco, a tribute to the land that welcomed her.

For all those years, she worked at the Institut français de Casablanca, watching day after day how children and young people discover the world. Otherness, the encounter with the other, shapes her writing, which is full of patience, curiosity and deep respect for young readers.

Her first picture book, Les ailes invisibles, was born from a very particular emotion. Standing before Vagues à l'âme, a sculpture by the Moroccan artist Ikram Kabbaj, she was so moved that she wanted to share the feeling with others. Her second children's book, La danse de la vague et de la lune, is inspired by the work of Mohamed Melehi. Once again, she invites children to look closely at a work of art, to feel it, and to step into the artist's world.

Christiane writes at home, at her work table. She is also a grandmother, which perhaps explains her gift for speaking to children with simplicity and warmth. With Agafay Books, she inaugurates the collection "Bab El Fenn", born from a simple wish: to introduce Moroccan art to children.
